Rich Elmore

RICHARD T. ELMORE, JR.

Richard Elmore is a U.S. Army veteran having served as a Captain (1968-71) during the Vietnam era. After completing Branch School as an Infantry Officer (Ft. Benning, GA) and Rotary Wing Flight Training (Ft. Wolters, TX and Hunter Army Airfield, GA), he was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division as an Aviator within its Combat Assault Helicopter Company flying "Hueys" (UH-1H).

Later at Ft. Bragg, NC, Rich was transferred to the XVIII Airborne Corps when he was selected to serve as Director of the Army's first inpatient substance abuse treatment program for returning Vietnam veterans within the Department of Psychiatry and Neurology at Womack Army Hospital Specialized Treatment Center. He continued on flight status assigned to the 182nd Aviation Company at Corps Headquarters.

Rich joined the clinical faculty of the School of Psychology at Florida Institute of Technology (Melbourne, FL) in 1982. Currently, he is an Associate Professor and Director, Center for Traumatology Studies. This program has provided counseling services, through a Department of Veterans Affairs contract (1986-2001), to Vietnam veterans within Brevard County, FL assisting with combat readjustment.

In addition, Rich is a licensed Psychologist with a part-time private practice specializing in couple therapy. He is certified in Family Mediation by the Supreme Court of Florida and is a member of the Associate Medical Staff at Holmes Regional Medical Center. Rich continues to hold an FAA Commercial Pilot's license, both rotary and fixed wing, with instrument qualification.
